Edgewater College Board - Casual Vacancy (Parent Representative)

The Edgewater College Board would like to acknowledge the contribution of Ms Hayley Newton, who recently stepped down from her role on the Board. We would sincerely like to thank Hayley on behalf of our entire school community for her contribution and commitment to our kura during this time.

As a result of Ms Newtons resignation, a casual vacancy has occurred on the Board for an elected representative. The Board has decided to fill the vacancy by selection. We would like to select Ms Smitha Menon to fill this vacancy. Ms Menon is presently a co-opted Board member, who has served on the board since October last year. This will ensure stability and continuity in our school’s governance.

If 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the Board, within 28 days of this notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be held.

Any/all requests for a byelection should be sent to the Presiding Member via Mrs Teresa Hampton, Board Secretary, by no later than Monday 21st September.

Meeting Dates for 2026

The Board is a locally elected Board that governs Edgewater College. All state and state-integrated schools in New Zealand have their own Board. It is responsible for establishing the College’s charter, which sets out the aims and objectives of the school.

Board meetings are public meetings and all members of the public are invited to attend (except for when the Board goes into ‘committee’).

They run monthly on a Monday night from 6.30 pm.
